Fall 2022 GB Arts Workshops

I've got a range of in-person workshops coming up this autumn at my local amazing arts school - GB Arts!

Saturday, September 17- 10AM-5PM THE PROJECT LOG BOOK

Join us in making an album structure- The Project Log Book. I designed this for tracking the design process of projects - the thought being that crafty folks who like to make things also probably don't really like to write down all the things that they learned along the way! It has fun pockets to store bits - paint tests, thread samples, paper choices, veneer pieces, etc.

So make a beautiful book structure to encourage you to track those big ideas!

Saturday, Oct 1 - 1PM-5PM FELT WRAPAROUND BOOK

The next book making workshop is the Felt Wraparound book! It's one of my favourites to make myself. We use lovely chunk thick felt, bright colours, and super fun buttons to finish the straps on the cover that hold it all closed. It's a marvel in your chilly fall hands!

Saturday, Oct 22 1PM-5PM - THE SEWN BOARD BOOK

This binding is a wonderfully straightforward book to make but still embraces the traditions of hand bookbinding. It's a writer's dream - lays flat and super sturdy but not overly heavy! It would make a great gift too!

Saturday Nov 1, 1PM-5PM THE VADE MECUM BOOK

Okay this book is just FUN! A Vade Mecum book is a reference book designed to be carried with you - the latin phrase means "go with me". This book is based on a medieval structure that physicians and religious instructors used called a "bat book". It comes with a loop so you can carry it on your belt! We'll build one with some maps of local hiking trails so it would be a great gift for the hiker in your family (or honestly just for yourself!).

Saturday, Nov 19th - 1PM-5PM THE MINI LEATHER BOOK ORNAMENT

These little gems are perfect for holiday ornaments or sweet little stocking stuffers. Each wee book has 12 pages of blank paper for your message. Each student will make at least 5 mini-books from a fun variety of leather scraps!

Registration information for the workshops can be found at GB Arts!
